[Dstar] Gatewaying woes

Hi People,

I have been trying to communicate with the Dstar gateway to other
repeater users over the last few days.

Radio is an Icom ID800H.

eg.

In trying to chat with John, VK8HF via VK8RAD it was reported that my
callsign and text came through but
no audio. The same happened with Steve, NU5D via the K5CTX repeater.

Once I placed their callsigns, minus the /, I was able to communicate
with them.

For VK8 I had the following....

MyCall = VK3JMA
UrCall = /VK8RAD C
Rpt1 = VK3RWN C
Rpt 2 = VK3RWN G

This didnt work till I set UrCall to VK8HF

For N5

MyCall = VK3JMA
UrCall = /K5CTX C
Rpt1 = VK3RWN C
Rpt 2 = VK3RWN G

This didnt work till I set UrCall to NU5D

In each case after a key up of VK3RWN, the ID800 displayed RPT *, which
a google search reveals a slight
bit of confusion as to its actual meaning, as with UR * when that is
displayed.

I have been told that RPT * means that the data was routed its
destination but no response occured and UR * is a response for similar
reasons when you have UrCall = CQCQCQ.

2 question, if you dont mind.

1. Why will my audio not get forwarded to the destinatio, when my Text
does???

2. What are the actual TRUE Documented meanings of UR * & RPT *?

Your assitance, advice and time is much appreciated.

Regards

Mark
