Thanks Steve,
For the amended diagram much apreciated.
Even dressed up our little pussy cat....
Very early days in VK6 but looking good with
considerable interest. A new site has been found
and we are getting the gear together.
My D-star radio (800) has finally turned up, it
took almost a month and I was told ICOM are
having trouble with supply, so looks good for ICOM.
Have not had a D-star QSO yet but have had a look
at the signal on a spec analyser (attached) for those who
have not seen it. Looks no different than a narrow band
FM signal and is the same regardless of audio or not.

Hello Richard,
Thank you for the on going updates they are appreciated.
When time permits would it be possible to provide greater detail as to the
RF
side of how the system was put together. In particular parts like isolators
and the 23cm duplexer. Most of the RF side of things I have considerable
experience with but can always learn more.
Also a picture of the antennas
I put together a simple block diagram of the RF part of VK3RWN from the
info you sent and wondered how accurate it is. Diagram attached.

Hello,
Here is the latest news for VK3RWN.
23cm DV
The diplexer was installed today for the 23cm Digital Voice repeater. 23cm
DV will be turned on this evening for testing and general use.
We are very interested in hearing coverage and performance reports from all
stations using the 23cm D-Star repeater. Would you please provide feed back
of your experiences to this email list.
Note that the LDF 4/50 coax to the 23cm voice antenna is going to be
replaced with brand new LDF 5/50 donated by AARadio in the near future.
2mtr Tx Antenna
After testing late last week it was found that the new 2mtr tx antenna was
not performing as well as expected. So today Steve VK3JSR revisited the site
to run some diagnostics on the antenna. Steve found that the 2mtr tx
antenna's phasing harness was full of water.
Steve replaced and tested the phasing harness and dipoles. The tests showed
an improvement in the transmitter's performance however it looks as though
there is a small problem with the SWR of the phasing harness in the 2mtr
band. This means that the new phasing harness will need to be replaced
(again) in the near future to get the system up to a full operational
standard.
70cm Receiver Sensitivity
We are currently investigation issues with the 70cm receiver sensitivity as
it seems to be lower than expected. Today the cavities and multi-coupler for
70cm were checked and re-tuned. This gained us an extra 3db or so for the
receiving antenna system. However the receiver sensitivity is still down so
we will need to do more investigation with the 70cm repeater module.
Thanks goes to Steve, VK3JSR for the continuing commitment and hard work in
supporting the D-Star RF system. Thanks also to JRD Communications for their
support and assistance with the antennas and site access.
The "/" Slash routing issue.
Most of us have had limited success with using the Slash to call remote
gateway ports (Port Linking). This problem with the Slash is also being
experienced in the UK and Europe.
The reason for the problem with the Slash is not yet know however we are
continuing to gather data and feed it back to the US K5TIT group for
analysis. Until we get to the bottom of the problem be aware that using Port
Linking ie setting UrCALL to something like /VK8RADC may not work.
Cheers
Richard
