[Dstar] Austrailan D-Star news for VK3RWN

Gday,

 

Today members of the D-Star Installation team completed work on the VK3RWN
Gateway.

 

The VK3RWN Gateway has now been commissioned and is currently being tested.

 

If you are listening to VK3RWN C or VK3RWN  B you may hear callsigns from
many locations around the world. However you will not be able to talk to the
stations until after testing is completed by D-Star Installation team
members and the Gateway Registration Process commences.

 

You will be informed of the Gateway Registration Process on this list at a
later date.

 

DPRS has also now been commissioned on VK3RWN C and VK3RWN B and testing has
commenced.

You will be able to help us test DPRS if you have an IC-2820, or an ID-800
or ID91 with a GPS.

 

To use DPRS you must set your radio configuration on the IC-2820 as follows:

 

CALL SIGN Menu:

YOUR to CQCQCQ

RPT1 to VK3RWN C (2mtrs) or VK3RWN B (70cm)

RPT2 to VK3RWN G

 

DV GPS Menu:

GPS SENTENCE / RMC - ON

GPS TX / GPS-A

GPS AUTO TX / 30MIN (This may be change in the future)

 

GPS-A Menu:

UNPROTO / API282,DSTAR*

GPS-A SYMBOL / ( this should normally be set to a Car or Jeep )

 

To set your symbol to a House in GPS-A SYMBOL select Other: an place "/-"
(without the quotes) in the two character places provided.

 

As I don't have an ID-800 or an IC91 and am unable to provide the DPRS
parameters at this stage.

 

Antenna work is yet to be completed on the repeater. The 2mtr & 70cm
repeaters are running on temporary antennas, the 70cm system is running at
about 30% of it's coverage.

 

The 23cm DV & DD systems is not yet operational.

 

 

Once again thank you to the D-Star installation team for their ongoing hard
work on commissioning and testing VK3RWN.

A number of people have spent many hours on this project over the past 4
weeks.
