Well, that was interesting, I got three replies off-list reminding me
about the fact that a foundation licensee has no permission to transmit
DPRS or D-STAR.  Yes, I know.  I see DPRS and D-STAR as a carrot to
encourage me to sit my standard license.  Travel for that is costly.

The most useful reply was, in summary:

- get a D-STAR radio and a GPS on the mobile side,
- get a D-STAR radio on the base side,
- look above $5K for a repeater setup for the club.

Doesn't seem too difficult.

The Wikipedia page also mentioned that open source software is
available, and that is critical to my decision ... I'm an open source
developer, I improve what I use.
