Mark makes a valid point. When you join a mailing list, it helps to
follow some stricter techniques, which are easy to learn. Because
messages are broadcast, there is a high return on investment in brevity.
It reduces the cost of being on the list. Not all hams can afford high
speed broadband services. They might be reading this on D-STAR. ;-)
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posting_style for more in-depth
analysis.
Perhaps the WIA news item could have been referred to originally rather
than forwarded in full. Not worth worrying about unless it happens
often.
Also, when replying to a digest, try to change the subject line
back to what it was inside the digest. Some mail programs can split out
the digest and let you reply to a single message ... but they are rare.
http://www.useit.com/alertbox/980906.html is a useful article that shows
how to choose a meaningful subject line for new messages.
I liked this chunk of text from the Wikipedia article ...
A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
A: Top-posting.
Q: What is the most annoying thing in e-mail?
