[Dstar] New D-Star Gatway software and Reflector.

Gday,

 

I'm happy to announce that we are beginning to test the new D-Star Gateway
software on the D-Star portable test server affectionately know as R2D2.

 

The new Gateway software know as G2 has many new features including a new
registration web page, repeater linking and better database management and
communications with the World Trust Server.

 

The G2 software is not compatible with the current V1.1 Gateway software.
This means that once a repeater moves from the current V1.1 software to G2
the repeater will no longer communicate with other V1.1 Gateway repeaters.

 

It is expected that we will install the new G2 software on to VK3RWN within
the next few months. All V1.1 Gateways have to be upgraded to G2 as the V1.1
World Trust Server will be turned of in later this year. 

 

The Gateway upgrade to G2 means that the VK2RWN Gateway will be off line for
a few weeks while it is being rebuilt. There will be an announcement before
this happens.

 

Once VK3RWN is back up and running with G2 Gateway Software you will have to
re-register using the new web page to gain access to the G2 system. Your
current registrations are valid for the V1.1 system only.

 

This will also apply to VK8RAD when it is upgraded to G2.

 

New D-Star Reflector:

Australia now has a D-Star Reflector named REF003.

This was setup using the D-Star reflector written by Robin AA4RC on a server
kindly provided by JBO Communications.

 

The Reflector allows a D-Star Repeater and multiple DV Dongles to share a
common channel and chat with each other. REF003 is currently on trial and
has limited functionality; however this will be expanded in the future.
