--------------------------

 The Gold Coast D-Star repeater, VK4RGC, is currently off air due to the
storms in SE Queensland earlier last week.

 A site visit was organized for Sunday (23/11/08) to inspect and fix the
repeater.

 The Gold Coast D-Star repeater is part of the WIA D-Star network and as
such required a callsign change to enable alignment of callsigns with the
other WIA D-Star repeaters in the national network.

As a site visit was required to fix the repeater it was decided by the Gold
Coast Amateur Radio Society to change the repeater ' s callsign to its new
callsign of VK4RWN at the time of the site visit.

Changing the callsign of the repeater requires a fair amount of work
including a rebuild of the D-Star Gateway. This is currently proceeding and
may take some time so the D-Star Gateway access may be unavailable for up to
a week. The D-Star RF repeater will be up and running during this time with
the callsign of VK4RWN.

The callsign change will mean that D-Star operators using the Gold Coast
D-Star repeater will need to do the following:

*	Reconfigure your radio to use the new callsign.

*	Eg

*	RPT1 VK4RWN C  (substitute the port for the relevant band, eg: C =
2m, B = 70cm, A = 23cm)
*	RPT2 VK4RWN G

*	OR download and install a new version of the respective Icom
Configuration file from  <http://www.dstar.org.au/icf.htm>
http://www.dstar.org.au/icf.htm into your radio.

*	If you are registered on the VK4RGC Gateway it is planned to
transfer your registration to VK4RWN and email your new account password to
you. However if there are issues with the system due to storm damage you may
be need to re-register on VK4RWN when it is operational. An announcement
will be made if there is a need to re-register.

* When you are registered on VK4RWN you will be allocated a new IP
address. You will only require the IP address if you use Digital Data on
23cm. You can find out your IP address by loging onto the Gateway and going
to your Personal Information page.

*	After the change of callsign to VK4RWN then stations wishing to
connect to the Gold Coast D-Star system, through Node Linking, will need to
change their URCALL appropriately.

Further notification will be sent out after the site visit to let you know
what is happening.
