[Dstar] Unable to connect to VK2RWN with DV-Dongle

Nik,

                As far as VK8RAD goes there is NO bandwidth issues when
D-Plus Dashboard is enabled it takes Very, Very, Very little bandwidth. Here
at VK8RAD there is NO audio quality degradation and no "jitters", or DV
Dongle access or other issues when D-Plus dashboard was installed into
D-Plus. There should be no reason that the software there is any different
than the one here at VK8RAD or VK5REX or in the U.S., Canada, G.B. or other
worldwide sites. Here in Darwin we (VK8RAD) is on the extreme edge of being
able to get ADSL and speed is limited. If talking to VK2RDS is the only way
through the REF003 B there is severe limitations in doing so since as you
may be aware and or have found out there could be several stations /
gateways connected to there, so making contact with that station on VK2RDS
difficult or needing to use the EMR function to break in and you are not
sure that station is connected to REF003B in the first place then you're in
a spot of bother let alone trying to contact other stations throughout the
world  if for some reason they themselves do not stay connected to REF003B.
You would have to use call sign routing or repeater routing and or gateway
routing with gateway routing being the best way to make contact if you're
not sure if the person is stationary or mobile since that person if he's
mobile will not have to take his eyes off the road or hit the one touch
reply button to reply since CQCQCQ in UR call field will suffice to answer
back to the calling party.

G'day all,

 

For the last couple of weeks, I haven't been able to connect to VK2RWN via
the DV-Dongle. This is a bit unusual as I have been able to connect to most
others with a gateway in VK.

 

The VK2RWN gateway is still obviously connected as the activity or users
list is updating and it is on a reflector occasionally. Have DV-Dongles been
locked out of this site intentionally or is there 

a config issue? This enquiry is about VK2RWN and not VK2RDS. 

 

In regards to the Dashboards being disabled for WIA affiliated gateways, I
note that mono-band and multi-band sites like 5REX and 8RAD are still
enabled for Dashboard access. 

Have these sites suffered any bandwidth or "jitter" issues like those
reported with the WIA affiliated sites?
