Hi Jon,
 
I have been operating a IC220H with UT118 module for several months now and
have had no complaints about my Tx audio from anyone.
Although I have not had a side by side comparison with a 92 or 2820,
subjectively the Rx audio sounds good, it does of course have the usual
"digital effects".
The only other thing I have noticed is that when data is being received I
get a slight "chattering" noise from the speaker even when the volume is
turned right down.
The same also goes if the GPS is hooked up and is sending NMEA strings.
