I agree with Heath, UT118 D-Star unit is very old, much Rand D has been
done since

IC-2200H is essentially a 65w FM mobile, there are better choices for
D-Star like a IC-2820H

My tip is to sell it and buy a 2820! The user experience is worlds
apart. I have a 2200 but don't use it since i purchased the 2820 - They
are fantastic. a lot more expensive, but worth every penny for added
features and ease of use. Everything is there infront of you, not behind
the menu's. It's a good 'limited budget' rig, but a poor 'entry level'
to DSTAR.

If you have any specific questions, I may be able to help when i get
home in a week or so.

Hi all,

I am a new user of the DSTAR technology and have an IC2200H with digital
option.

I'm looking for any handy tips, hints, links or information related to
operating the DSTAR features of this particular radio.

I've been successful in its basic operation in that I have been able to
make contacts via the repeater VK3RWN. But I'm interested in trying out
all the other features that may be available.
I find the IC2200H manual quiet difficult to follow, particularly the
Digital mode section.

Also, the receive audio is not perfect (in my opinion). I wonder if
there are any tweaks that can be done inside the radio? There are two
pots on the digital option board. Maybe the audio level entering the
digital board from the rx IF is not quite right??
