David ,

D-Star is digital and runs with a bandwidth of 6.25Khz, this
is why It does not sound like broadcast audio. There are no "tweaks"

The IC-2200H is a very basic entry level radio for D-Star, it is limited
in its functionality due to the age of the UT118 unit and the radio

I suggest you obtain CS-2200H from your local Icom dealer and program
the radio via computer, this will allow you to get the best out of the
radio

Hope this helps

Subject: [Dstar] IC2200H operating tips.

Hi all,

I am a new user of the DSTAR technology and have an IC2200H with digital
option.

I'm looking for any handy tips, hints, links or information related to
operating the DSTAR features of this particular radio.

I've been successful in its basic operation in that I have been able to
make contacts via the repeater VK3RWN. But I'm interested in trying out
all the other features that may be available.
I find the IC2200H manual quiet difficult to follow, particularly the
Digital mode section.

Also, the receive audio is not perfect (in my opinion). I wonder if
there are any tweaks that can be done inside the radio? There are two
pots on the digital option board. Maybe the audio level entering the
digital board from the rx IF is not quite right??
