The bandwidth is donated. As for running a reflector, I have access
to a virtual host in Oz, which I pay for, at a good rate. I would be
happy to host a second D-STAR reflector, which would mean there were
two reflectors (6 channels total) available for the VK/ZL region. I
did enquire and make an offer some time last year, but never got a
reply from the man himself (Robin AA4RC), not even so much as a
"thanks, but no thanks". My system is located in Adelaide, which
provides some locational redundancy as well. Hopefully, if mine ever
goes down, the Sydney one would be up and vice versa, meaning we have
somewhere in VK to connect to.
That's what saved the AMSAT net on Tuesday, the Echolink side is
hosted on my Adelaide VPS. The only IRLP access was a dedicated link
I setup to bring the NSW South coast system into the net, as that's
the busiest IRLP node for that net.
