John, FYI, Mt Wombat is 150km from Melbourne, around 10km E of the
Hume Highway. It would be a little less as the crow flies, of
course. The 150km figure is Melbourne to Euroa, and Mt Wombat is
around 10km E of Euroa.

Melbourne - Sydney is around 880km by road, or around 750 in a
straight line. Taking the best case report of 200km for VK3RWW, and
assuming that distance is an accurate figure, that's still around
400km short of Sydney (going as the crow flies). Not half way, more
like 1/3 of the way from the site. The first 150km or more is fairly
flat west of the mountains, and the 2m FM repeater at Mt Wombat has
always had superb coverage.

In any case, 150-200km mobile range is a superb result.
