Hi Guys,
thanks for your replies both here and to my email address about working
dstar dx.
I will monitor 145.125 DV vertical polarization most evenings from
around 1830pm local time with
my ID800 and GST-1 at 15m. My locator is QF21PX.
I will also monitor www.vklogger.com .
Hope to get that rare long distance DV contact on 2m and even 70cm.
From my experience in driving around victoria of late I still manage to
decode the repeaters with
the IC92AD and mobile dualband antenna well out of the city. Out past
wallan to the north
out Warragul/Moe area to the east, naturally down geelong and of course
out past Kyeton.
So with a base to base, and even later on, beam to beam, I can not see a
reason why we shouldnt
be able to have many hundreds of km's out of a contact between dstar
radios, apart from population density
at the moment!!!!!
It would be very interesting to see what happens to a dstar signal with
modes like Aircraft enhancement, Meteor
scatter or ducting. I know it doesnt like multi pathing that much but we
can play cant we!
I am in th process of setting up 2m/70cm & 23cm horizontal beams for my
ssb work and will make sure I can
easily switch the dstar box over to these beams. Still a few weeks
(read months hi hi) away but soon....be ready :>)
Regards
Mark
