[Dstar] D-Plus Dashboards for VK - some have dissappeared

G'day Richard and everyone on the list...
What level of ADSL service is connected to the WIA repeaters? If it's not enough or the initial connection was ok at the time but not now, maybe it could then be increased. The tools that had been available until very recently certainly increased one's understanding of how D-Star works and what's currently linked to where. This awareness also reduced the likelyhood of someone barging in on someone else's QSO unintentionally as well as wasting time putting out calls on a repeater that one may have thought was linked elsewhere but in fact is not.
I think anything that comes along that enhances the enjoyment of D-Star operation is a good thing and should be embraced and not restricted. We need to attract more users to D-Star and encourage further operating activity. Current D-Star repeater utilisation is low and we need to get some new people in and amongst it. We need to show the benefits and demonstrate that D-Star is a leap ahead of operating on FM repeaters. It's a battle to promote D-Star amongst the slow adopters. When trying to sell, educate or demonstrate to possible new operators about the concept of D-Star, it can be frustrating at times to understand what the network is doing at a given point in time if some of the previously available tools are no longer available to all except admins. We've got to demonstrate the advantages of D-Star.
If bandwidth is the issue, then perhaps this should be looked at. Do the admins around VK have regular chats/meetings to exchange ideas & issues or has there been a post-implementation review on D-Star nationally now that this mode has been available in Australia now for approx 18 months?
I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has any other ideas or suggestions, user feedback, etc. I'm certainly all for D-Star and just trying to understand it better. Having the loan of a DV-Dongle for the past week has also increased my D-Star knowledge somewhat. If others are remotely interested in the DV-Dongle, go for it! :-) It's another handy tool and complements the current offering of D-Star radio's.
Cheers,

Hi Nick,
All WIA VK D-Star repeaters have limited ADSL bandwidth at the repeater site. The ADSL bandwidth is primarily reserved for repeater DV & DD communications.
When the D-Plus dashboards pages are available, ADSL bandwidth for DV & DD communications is reduced especially on the uplink, as the connected web browsers are frequently downloading the D-Plus dashboard pages from the Gateway server. This causes degradation (R2D2, Jitter & slow voices) on the DV communications channels when the local repeater becomes busy. The degradation is especially noticeable for DV-Dongle users.
As Most of the information that was on the D-Plus dashboards is available from other sources such as http://www.jfindu.net/dstarlh.aspx?rptr=VK3RWN, http://www.dstarusers.org/viewrepeater.php?system=VK2RWN etc. the lack of a dashboard is not critical to the dissemination of D-Star information.
Cheers
Richard

Hi all,
Has anyone else noticed that some of the have dissappeared?? Does anyone know why and when they might be back up again? It made a hell of a difference when they were available. Now it's a guessing game again...
Cheers,
