Wenlock,
Unfortunately you didn't specify which of the VK3RBA repeaters you were
trying to access, so here is the status of the various voice repeaters:
VK3RBA B - D-STAR: Operational, but needs to go back to Icom soon for
the receiver to be retuned for Australian conditions. I will advise
through this list when that occurs. I presume you had RPT1 set to
VK3RBA B.
VK3RBA 70cm FM: Operational and I presume you had a 91.5Hz Tone set to
access it.
The receive sensitivity of both VK3RBA B and VK3RBA 70cm FM is down by
approx 9dB, compared to the respective transmitters, but this will be
improved when a replacement Window Filter is installed. You should
still have had no problems accessing the repeaters around Ballarat, or
for that matter most of Melbourne and down towards Geelong. The actual
coverage of VK3RBA B, from what we have tested, is very close to the
predicted coverage map as depicted on the web site at
www.dstar.org.au/vk3rba.htm .
VK3RBA 2m FM: Operational, but at a reduced power output of 250mW due to
a PA fault.
Thanks for reminding me to update the status on the web site for VK3RMM
B.
Regards,
Davidt, VK3UR
