[Dstar] VK3RMM linking or lack of

G'day Richard,

Thanks for the info. I had a slight inkling that an issue with the 3G connection might've been the case. I think we can live with that for now. Delivering any type of non-wireless link to most hills will be a challenge for some time to come. I used to have a similar problem running an el-cheapo ZTE NextG Turbo Card running the older version of the DV-Tool with the DV-Dongle. It was far more stable using the Sierra's & Motorola's. The latest versions of the DV-Tool are a marked improvement.

And no worries with REF003. I thought I'd observed some wierdness (lack of slow data) on D-Rats via REF003 over the past 36hrs but it appears ok now.

Cheers,

  Hi Nik,

VK3RMM is running on a 3G network and as such its connection is less reliable than ADSL.

Each time the 3G connection is lost and re-established (which happens on average twice a day) it takes between 2 to 4 hours for the VK3RMM Gateway to synchronise and re-establish the connection with the D-Star network.

There was also a small issue with reflector 3 over the past few days that was fixed today.

  Cheers

  Richard

  G'day all,

Is anyone aware of a possible problem with VK3RMM Mt Macedon over the past week or so?

  My observations...

I've observed that perhaps the VK3RMM port C has unlinked itself regularly, particularly since mid last week. I'm aware that the C ports are user linkable but even given the default configuration of it being linked to REF003-C, it appears to me that this C port is dropping off regularly - often during QSO's. Today it would appear that the linking of VK3RMM-C to REF003-C may have dropped off altogether and isn't recovering. QSYing to VK3RWN-C is a quick albeit temporary solution to picking up the QSO again. I'm becoming very familiar with Robin's voice :-) It's not a showstopper - just an enquiry.

It's my observation that the B port is hanging in there and performing ok.

  Thanks.

  Cheers,
