I'm using D-RATS via a Dongle also. I can use it with the radio, but
need to organise an outdoor antenna to go that route.

The inbuilt attenuator of the 91AD makes a bit of difference with
pagers. I used to be able to operate simplex into an external
antenna in an area notorious for pager interference, if I turned the
attenuator on.

D-STAR simplex of any kind during field days should be
encouraged. Hmm, Phone or Data? :D
