Hi Nik,

The file size has typically been around the 1000 byte mark tops. D-rats
is quite efficient when using pre-de fined forms.

It is interesting to watch d-rats using a scanner and the sound-card
based decoder (I forget the name now, but it is from Europe). The DV
can't be decoded as I don't have a dongle, but the data substream can.
There is a bit of tooing and froing.

I'm using an IC92 with the serial cable and Peter VK4EA was using the
basic mobile

I've had the PC running monitoring ALE soundings for the last week or
so, so there's no problem moving it to d-rats again. I'll hook the
serial lead up and stay on the 2m freq (145.125) incase people in
Brisbane want to have a go and sending a file or making a call. I'm in
the inner-Western suburbs and have pretty good 2m coverage with the
dualbander on the roof.

David.
