Sorry about the last couple of updates - perhaps I should shutup until I'm completed all of the testing instead of posting these little steps along the way :-)
Hopefully these notes are of some use to someone...
Ok. I've now discovered a harmonic issue during the cross-band inside the IC-2820H.
Dividing the 70cm freq you're using in one band by the 2m freq you're using in the other band and you end up with a figure very close to a factor or multiple of 3, you may end up with a locked-on TX within the rig. If you can end up with a combination of something about 0.01243 higher or lower than a factor of 3, then the internal cross-band repeat will function ok without internal TX lockups. So for example, a factor of 2.98766 will cause the rig to lock up the TX.
This may vary across different IC-2820H's but this is what I've found thus far.
