G'day all on the list,

Thankyou to everyone I've received emails from over the last week or so about my D-Star repeater. It's much appreciated.

The overall aim is for the repeater is to provide good mobile and portable coverage out to about 50kms from here. It wasn't intended to be a flame thrower of a repeater. I'm working within my limitations. Regarding the antenna placement and altitude, I'm hoping to have a minimal visual impact, continue keeping the neighbours happy, try and be as professional as I can with the installation in regards to reliability and mains-fail, provide nice coverage to the Geelong and surrounding areas and of course minimise any desense issues that will crop up with everything else that's running here.

Whilst the antenna isn't very high right now, I'm hoping to sort this out in coming weeks.

Thanks to those that have provided advice, tips, inspiration and clues on how to establish these things. It's been a long road that started in September last year. It's early days, but there are already signs that there may be new interest in D-Star here locally. It's a matter of converting the unconvertible. As the saying goes and was again recently suggested to me, the Amateur is always progressive. I hope that's true.

Take it easy out there :-)

Cheers,
