Hi
I am considering putting a simplex D-star node on air. I was wondering if anyone knew the legalities of doing that.
I currently run an echolink node which is OK under the "computer controlled unattended operation" part of the LCD. I dont need any extra licenses and I use my own callsign.
A simplex D-star node is much the same in operation so I would assume it comes under the same clause. Its not a repeater after all.
But I cant use my callsign. As I cant use a callsign which is already registered as a user in the D-star system. (unless you know different)
Can anyone advise? or put me in touch with someone who knows more than I? (which wouldnt be difficult)
There are no simplex D-star nodes in Australia, so its all new.
Also there is no contact email address on the Australia D-star webpage :)
Please dont say "ask the WIA/ACMA" unless you know of someone who can actually help. The last time i asked the WIA a legal question they said 'we are not the ACMA" so i asked the ACMA and got the wrong answer.
