I've installed Monlink on the VK5REX gateway and it works very well. 
I've not enabled any of the automatic linking or re-linking as yet, just 
using it to announce where VK5REX B is connected to using the "LI" in 
the 7th and 8th character. I was hoping that this functionality would 
have made it's way into Dplus by now, but no... maybe soon Robin says.
It does auto announce the connection status, but it does it 
intelligently. If the repeater is being used, it holds off until a 
significant quiet period has elapsed... it's not a brute force cron job 
that stomps on top of other transmissions.

The latest version of Dplus (v2.2f) does allow for more functionality in 
user initiated scripts. Several environmental variables are now set by 
Dplus for use by scripts launched by the "xxxxxx?X" URCall script function.
Brian NJ6N and Darren G7LWT have started making scripts available that 
use this extra functionality provided by the latest Dplus version.

I've installed the available scripts on the VK5REX gateway PC and the 
"xxxxxxIX" script sends back a transmission with the current linked 
status in the 20 character message. It seems to work well, but I am 
having trouble getting my IC-2820 to receive the message... not sure why 
yet.

I've also installed WB4DSO's Dplusreport on VK5REX as well. This is 
great, it allows people running nets to look at what is going on in a 
much nicer fashion than trying to decipher the dplus.log file as it runs 
past.
It doesn't need root privileges to run so net controllers can have an 
account set up on the gateway machine and run Dplusreport without any 
danger of messing with the core functionality of the gateway machine.
