There is a new Gateway addon program called monlink, which can be read
about here;

The program allows users to query the gateway with a eg: urcall =
VK3RWNLI

LI is in the 7th,8th urcall character positions, with the repeater
callsign preceding
to hear an audio response of what the link status is, and what the link
is.

This program can also control announcements such as the 4 second
message 
based on system activity and time schedules etc, to improve convenience
to users.
