[Dstar] Problem with vk3rwm gateway

G'day all, yes I've observed the same thing. When connecting via a Dongle, I've found that the audio out of the Dongle is making it through to the RF side of 3RWN-C but returned audio from 3RWN-C back to the Dongle is sounding jittered or like there's perhaps a high packet loss. I'm no guru, just guessing. Also, occasionally when I've gone to connect to 3RWN-C via the Dongle, that I end up with a failed attempt and soon after drops off.

I then did the same testing via the Dongle into 3RMM-C and that seemed to work ok both ways.

And over the last week or so, I've observed that the reporting from 3RWN seems to be a bit spasmodic - in that half the time I key up via RF, my callsign is reported into the Last Heard List and then on other occasions it doesn't.

Just hearing Adrian 4TUX and Brian 3NAY on there now I think with the same possible fault.

Anyway, these are my observations from here. I've no idea what the root cause could be.

To all those heading to the upcoming Central Victorian Hamfest at Kyneton on the 14th Feb, perhaps meeting up on 3RMM-C enroute might be the go for the usual D-Star family reunion :-)

And to Rob 2MT, I echo your thoughts. I myself am occasionally guilty of not waiting the full 4 seconds - this can make it tricky for Dongle users to jump in between overs. So perhaps the "4 sec" announcement should remain in some form.

Cheers,
