<DIV><FONT face=Arial>G'day everyone.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial>Don't know if this has been reported before, haven't been
keeping up with all the mail of late so I may have missed things at
times.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial>I run an Echolink ( link ) node here at home consisting of
an Asus Eee PC 900, Alinco FM Txcr on 70 Cms and the SignaLink with the
integrated USB sound card, all this is run through a 3G wireless
modem.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial>On D-STAR I have the IC-92AD and I quite often have
the "A" band listening on my 70 Cm simplex frequency for Echolink, and the
"B" band on D-STAR voice. I also have the DV Dongle running ( at
times ) through the Asus and 3G wireless connection ( because I can ) and this
works real fine but I do have to turn off Echolink because of Port
configuration.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial>Last week I turned off the Echolink software, but not the
hardware and, not thinking, I fired up the DV Dongle and walked away from my
shack, taking with me the 92 AD.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial>A little while later someone called up on D-STAR and I
took a look at the screen of the 92, to see who it was,and saw the audio was
coming out on my Echolink analogue simplex frequency, very quickly followed by
someone else calling on VK3RWN "B", which is where I listen on
D-STAR.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial>Now, I had two entirely different digital conversations on
my IC 92 AD ( at the same time ) but one was coming out on the "A" band, and
clearly audible.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial>I went back to my shack and saw what was happening. The
dongle was listening to GB7DG, through the SignaLink and out to the Alinco and
being splattered out in to the atmosphere for everyone to hear, on
analogue, while the 92 was listening to VK3RWN-B on the "B"
band.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial>I am, as would be suspected, not able to talk back through
the 92 AD on the "A" band back to the Alinco and through the Asus for
transmission back through the D-STAR network, but it is fun, and a way possible
for people not yet on D-STAR, to listen and make an evaluation as to whether or
not to take the plunge.</FONT></DIV>
