<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I wonder if anyone else has had the same
intermittent fault that I've been having, as I'm reluctant to send it back to
Icom unless I really have to (because I love it and would hate to part with it
for a couple of weeks). </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>On occaisons, maybe a couple of times per month,
after powering up the radio (IC-92AD with GPS spkr/mic) and usually activating
the GPS receiver (via the button at the top of the GPS mic), the screen goes
blank after about 5mins and randomly flashes a thin line across the screen.
Nothing will reinstate the screen apart from turning the radio off then on
again. From here it behaves normally. Warm starts of the GPS don't seem to worry
it. It seems to be on rare occasions, perhaps the cold-start of the GPS receiver
triggers this fault. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>When I'm using the radio without the GPS spkr/mic
connected, such as either on it's own or an Icom headset (via Icom switchbox)
via an Icom Y-adapter cable, the fault never occurs. So all of this is
pointing me in the direction perhaps there's something happening with the GPS
spkr/mic that once the GPS cold-start has finished it's aquisition cycle, that
it's causing an issue with the radio. Warm GPS starts seem to be ok. On very
rare occasions, not even turning the GPS receiver section on at all will produce
the fault. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>This intermittent fault only occurs once and then
never to be seen again for the remainder of the day. It's a fault that I'm
resisting annoying Icom about unless it becomes a regular event, although
because I've parted with quite a few dollars for this system, perhaps I
should send it in while it's still within warranty. Has anyone else had an
issue similar to this at all??</FONT></DIV>
